ISO 28007-1 certification is part of the ISO 28000 security standard series, providing existing guidelines for private maritime security companies that provide privately contracted armed security personnel (PCASP) on board. Certification to these standards demonstrates to the international community that they and their operators can legally, safely and effectively protect ships.
lSO 28007-1 certification will enable private maritime security companies to clearly demonstrate their reliability and professionalism and will enhance confidence in shipping itself and the public. Essentially, this helps ensure the safety of crew, ships and their property.
It also ensures that the expectations of stakeholders such as the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), the Baltic and International Maritime Council (BIMCO), oil majors, charterers and flag states are met.
