"For China to stand with dignity in the Eastern world, we must first command respect!"
This conviction forms Liu Zheng's unwavering commitment to international security protection - the very essence of every Hanwei professional's mission.
No Struggle, No Glory
Perhaps growing up in a military compound, or influenced by family upbringing, or simply due to his innate perseverance - this 1.85m-tall man always exudes an aura of righteousness, determined to forge his own path.
After graduating university, Liu joined the banking system with a respectable position, living as a refined gentleman in Beijing. When he learned about establishing a company to protect Chinese citizens' overseas security interests, he felt an immediate surge of excitement and responsibility. Without hesitation, he resigned and embarked on his Hanwei journey.
It was an unknown journey, a path without comrades, full of obstacles. Without colleagues, funding, or clear direction - even leadership was absent. The approval process proved more difficult and prolonged than imagined due to special requirements. Alone with just a backpack, Liu traveled between Beijing, Tianjin, and Shanghai before finally establishing Hanwei International Security Services by West Lake in Hangzhou.
No Danger, No Opportunity
When Liu mentions working in Iraq, people react with astonishment - "Why?" or "That's so cool!" - as if he naturally carries a "main character" aura: mastering combat skills, turning around gunfight situations, moving seamlessly through war zones. The reality? Living in converted shipping containers in Basra's outskirts with 50°C heat, unreliable generators roaring 24/7, and endless potato meals - this is authentic Iraqi security deployment.
Despite extensive preparation, every step in Iraq proved extraordinarily difficult. From the plane window descending over the Tigris River - witnessing both ancient civilization and modern conflict zones littered with unexploded ordnance - to navigating ISIS strongholds and tribal conflicts, Liu faced constant danger. Yet he recognized the massive market potential where Chinese companies desperately needed security services.
No Midnight Oil, No Bidding Success
"Locked in a small room for a week, even eating there - who knew he'd produce such a comprehensive Iraq situation report?" colleagues recalled. Liu personally conducted route surveys and risk assessments. During one site inspection, an unexpected landmine explosion killed two local guards just 100 meters away. Yet Liu calmly completed the mission after handling aftermath arrangements - demonstrating extraordinary composure.
No Professional Dedication, No Qualification for the Mission
"Physical hardship is cultivation, but mental anguish is true torment," Liu often says. What pained him most was Chinese companies preferring expensive international firms over domestic security providers. Through relentless effort, Hanwei eventually earned clients' exclusive trust with comprehensive "Iraq Security Solutions" covering risk assessment, training, logistics, and hostage rescue.
During July 2018 Basra riots when most Chinese companies evacuated, Liu provided full security for a new office. Amid daily violent protests, he maintained operations while establishing four emergency evacuation routes. When clients became trapped in danger zones during government lockdowns, Liu personally led rescue missions through gunfire - "Seeing their applause when we returned...that pride in protecting our compatriots is unforgettable."
No Youthful Commitment, No True Protection
Four years in Iraq represent Liu's prime years dedicated to Hanwei. While friends married and started families, he counted steps in armored vehicles through deserts. His elderly father repeatedly urged him to leave missile-threatened areas, but ultimately came to support his son's conviction. Liu demands quality, precision, agility and efficiency - becoming both trusted partner and symbolic guardian for Chinese in Iraq.
"Know which way the wind blows when it's windy, and know who you are when it's calm," Liu often says. No wealth can buy inner peace, so he remains steadfast under pressure, living the motto: "Stay true to our original aspirations, keep our mission firmly in mind, and march forward courageously." As a true Hanwei professional, Liu Zheng remains unwavering in protecting Chinese lives and assets abroad.
