According to local media in Mozambique on March 25, Palma in Cabo Delgado province in northern Mozambique was attacked by terrorists on the afternoon of March 24. The attack blocked the road from Palma to Afungi, just 6 kilometers from the gates of the Afungi natural gas project construction site and the airport runway. The terrorists first attacked the police station on the coast of Palma, then entered the town's commercial center, robbed two banks, and engaged in direct confrontation with the Mozambican army and police stationed in Palma. At the same time, multiple attacks occurred in villages around the terrorist attack site. Many residents hid in the jungle, while others fled by boat. Local communication signals were cut off at 16:30, making it impossible to obtain more information about the attack.

On December 31 last year, after terrorists arrived near the construction site of the Afungi natural gas pipeline project, France's Total, responsible for developing the project, announced the suspension of construction. Just hours before this attack, Total had announced that security in the area had improved and production could gradually resume. (Reporter Shi Yue)
