This issue summarizes the dynamics of security intelligence information in various regions around the world from January 27 to February 2, 2025. According to the security risk assessment, the security levels of various regions are as shown on the global risk map. Afghanistan, Syria, Myanmar, Pakistan, Nigeria, Sudan, Ukraine, Palestine, Israel and other regions are classified as extremely high-risk areas. During this period, armed conflicts, terrorist attacks and other security incidents occurred frequently in these regions. Chinese-funded enterprises stationed abroad need to enhance their own security precautions. This information is only for internal risk assessment purposes of our company.
The Middle East region
(1) Syria
An attack in Aleppo Province left 43 people dead or injured. On January 28th, a market in Sarin City, Aleppo Province, northern Syria, and two other places were attacked by Turkish drones, resulting in the deaths of 14 civilians, including three children, and 29 others injured.
(2) Iraq
Security forces in Hooke Province were attacked, resulting in 4 deaths and 1 injury. On January 27, media reports said that on January 25, the Iraqi border forces were attacked and exchanged fire by armed members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party while performing border defense duties in Duhok Province, a Kurdish autonomous region in northern Iraq. The attack resulted in the deaths of two Iraqi border force soldiers, one injury, and two Kurdistan Workers' Party militants being killed.
Four Islamic State militants were killed. On January 31, the Iraqi military carried out an air strike on the hideout of the extremist group "Islamic State" militants in the Zirga area between Salahuddin Province and Kirkuk Province, killing four militants.
(3) Palestine and Israel
The conflict between Palestine and Israel has claimed 47,000 lives in Palestine. On January 30th, multiple areas in Gaza, Palestine, were attacked by the Israel Defense Forces, resulting in at least 43 civilian deaths and 9 injuries. As of that day, the current round of Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip has led to the death of 47,460 Palestinians and the injury of 111,580. In addition, on January 30, when the Israeli army launched attacks on the West Bank cities of Bethlehem, Tulkelm, Jenin and Ghal Gilye, 26 Palestinians were arrested.

(4) Lebanon
Hezbollah targets in the Bekaa Valley were hit by Israeli air strikes. On January 30th, multiple Hezbollah targets in the Bekaa Valley region of Lebanon were hit by Israeli air strikes. There are no reports of casualties for the time being. The Israeli military said that the targets of the strikes include the underground infrastructure where Hezbollah develops and manufactures weapons and the bases that provide weapons to the border between Lebanon and Syria.
The Asia-Pacific region
(1) Pakistan
A bus in Balochistan Province was attacked, resulting in one death and seven injuries. On January 27th, a bus was attacked by a bomb in the Huzdar area of Balochistan Province in southwestern Pakistan, resulting in at least one death and seven injuries. On that day, the bus was attacked by a simple bomb from a car parked by the roadside while it was in motion. So far, no organization or individual has claimed responsibility for this attack.
23 terrorists were killed in the anti-terrorism operation in Balochistan Province. On February 1st, the Pakistani military carried out anti-terrorism operations in the Grad and Hernai regions of Balochistan Province in the southwest, killing 23 terrorists and dismantling multiple terrorist hideouts. At the same time, the crossfire resulted in the deaths of 18 Pakistani security personnel.
(2) Myanmar
The national state of emergency has been extended for another six months. On January 31st, the Defense and Security Council of Myanmar decided to extend the national state of emergency for another six months. In February 2021, then acting President of Myanmar, Myint RAE, declared a one-year state of emergency across the country. Since then, the state of emergency has been extended several times.
(3) India
The stampede at the Dahu Festival resulted in 30 deaths and 60 injuries. On January 29th, a stampede occurred at the Grand Pot Festival in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, India, resulting in 30 deaths and 60 injuries. The Great Pot Festival, also known as the Holy Water Bathing Festival, is held every 12 years and is a grand Hindu festival.

The African region
(1) Nigeria
An attack on a military camp in Borno State left 20 people dead and many others injured. On January 27th, media reports said that the 149th Army Battalion in Malamfatori Town, Borno State, Nigeria was attacked by militants from the extremist group "Islamic State West Africa Province" on the 25th. Subsequently, the two sides exchanged fire for more than three hours. The crossfire resulted in the deaths of at least 20 soldiers, including a lieutenant colonel commander, and several others were injured. The extremists were repelled.
(2) Democratic Republic of the Congo
The armed conflict in North Kivu Province has claimed 773 lives. From January 26th to 30th, armed conflicts between the Congolese government forces and the anti-government armed group "M23 Movement" have been continuously breaking out in multiple areas of Goma, the capital of North Kivu Province, resulting in 773 deaths and over 2,800 injuries. Recently, the "M23 Movement" has been launching continuous offensives in the North Kivu region, causing a large number of civilian casualties and displacements. The president of the Democratic Republic of the Congo said on the evening of January 29 that the government would do its best to recapture the areas occupied by the "M23 Movement".
Prison riots in North Kivu Province left 10 people dead and 4,400 prisoners escaped. On January 27th, a prisoner arson incident occurred at the Central Prison in Goma, the capital of North Kivu Province in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, resulting in at least 10 deaths and approximately 4,400 prisoners escaping.
Protests and demonstrations in the capital triggered riots. On January 28th, demonstrations and riots broke out in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. On that day, demonstrators gathered on several main roads in Kinshasa, at foreign embassies and the locations of international organizations, demanding that the government quickly stop the offensive of the anti-government armed group "M23 Movement" in the eastern part of the country. During this period, some protesters burned tires and looted several foreign embassies. The police used tear gas to disperse the demonstrators.

(3) Somalia
The US military carried out air strikes on targets of the "Islamic State". On February 1st, US President Trump said that the US military carried out a "precision air strike" on the hideouts of the extremist group "Islamic State" militants in the Golis Mountains of Somalia on that day, killing several terrorists including a senior "mastermind of the attack".
(4) Morocco
The Casablanca region foiled a terrorist attack plot. On January 30th, Morocco's counter-terrorism department dismantled a terrorist gang that attempted to attack a large store in the Casablanca region of the country, arrested four terrorists and seized some explosive devices.
(V) Sudan
Armed conflicts continue. From January 27th to February 2nd, the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Force continued to engage in fierce exchanges of fire in the areas surrounding the capital Khartoum, the western city of Omdurman, and multiple fronts in the central region. On the 30th, the Sudanese armed forces took control of Tuti Island, located at the confluence of the White Nile and the Blue Nile, in the northern part of the capital Khartoum. At the same time, they recaptured the city of Umrawaba in North Kordofan State in western Sudan. In addition, on February 1st, the Sudan Rapid Support Force shelled a market in the capital city of Omdurman, resulting in 54 deaths and 158 injuries.
(6) South Sudan
Two Chinese citizens died in the plane crash. On January 29th, a plane crashed in the northern United State of South Sudan, killing 20 people, including two Chinese citizens. The plane involved was carrying 19 passengers and 2 crew members. It crashed just three minutes after taking off from the United State of South Sudan. At present, the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
Europe and America
(1) The United States
The plane crash in Washington D.C. has claimed 67 lives. On January 30th, a civil airliner carrying 64 people collided with a military helicopter while landing at Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C., resulting in 67 deaths. Among the deceased were two Chinese citizens.
A small plane crashed in Philadelphia, killing 7 people and injuring 19 others. On January 31st, a small medical transport plane in the United States crashed shortly after taking off from Philadelphia Airport in Pennsylvania, resulting in 7 deaths, 19 injuries, and the destruction of several houses and vehicles on the ground. At present, the cause of the crash is under investigation.

(2) Ukraine
The armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues. From January 27th to February 2nd, Russia's special military operation in Ukraine continued. The Russian Ministry of Defense recently released a battle report stating that in the past week, the Russian army launched seven rounds of cluster strikes against personnel and equipment of the Ukrainian army. It has taken control of the town of Novovosilka and the settlement of Novoilzavetovka in the Donetsk region. At the same time, they engaged in battles with the Ukrainian army in many places in Kursk, and the Ukrainian army suffered losses of more than 420 men. At present, the Russian army continues to strike the effective forces of the Ukrainian army on multiple fronts and occupies more favorable positions, advancing towards the depth of the Ukrainian army's defense. On the Ukrainian side, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said that within this week, Ukrainian missile and artillery units attacked Russian ammunition depots, personnel and weapons equipment concentration areas. It repelled hundreds of Russian attacks in the direction of Pokrovsk and other areas, and repelled seven Russian attacks in the direction of Kursk. In addition, Ukrainian military drones attacked a missile depot of the Russian Ministry of Defense and an oil pump station of the Russian oil pipeline system.
(3) Ecuador
Five people were killed in an armed attack in Guayas Province. On January 30th, an armed attack occurred in Duran City, Guayas Province, southwestern Ecuador, resulting in 5 deaths and 1 injury. On that day, a group of armed men broke into a house in Duran City with guns and opened fire on the people inside, resulting in four deaths on the spot and one person who died after being sent to the hospital. Preliminary police investigations suggest that the victim may be linked to an organized crime gang in Duran City.
(4) Russia
Many places have been attacked by Ukrainian drones. From January 29th to 31st, seven regions of Russia, including Smolensk and Nizhny Novgorod, were hit by large-scale attacks by Ukrainian drones. There are no reports of casualties for the time being.
(V) Chile
Six people died when a cruise ship sank in the south. On January 27th, a cruise ship in Chile hit a reef and sank in the waters of Mansa Bay in SAN Juan de la Costa, Los Lagos region in the south due to engine failure, resulting in 6 deaths, 1 person missing and 27 people rescued. The cruise ship was approved to carry 20 passengers but actually carried 34, which was seriously overloaded. At present, the search and rescue operation is still ongoing.

Seven people died when the speedboat capsized. On January 30th, a speedboat in Indonesia capsized in the waters near North Kalimantan Province, resulting in 7 deaths and 1 person missing.
(2) South Korea
A fishing boat ran aground in the waters off Jeju Island, resulting in two deaths and two people missing. On February 1st, two South Korean fishing boats ran aground in the waters near Jeju Island, resulting in two deaths, two people missing and 13 people rescued. At present, the coast guard is searching for the missing persons.
