Hanwei Global Security Bulletin



Based on security risk assessments and the global risk map, Afghanistan, Syria, Myanmar, Pakistan, Nigeria, Sudan, Ukraine, Palestine and Venezuela are classified as Extremely High-Risk Areas. Armed conflicts, terrorist attacks and other security incidents occurred frequently in these regions during this period. Chinese-funded enterprises overseas shall strengthen security precautions.

This bulletin is for internal risk assessment use only.



Middle East

1. Iraq

Iran launches strikes against US targets. On 11 June, Iran carried out a missile attack on the US military base at Harir in northern Iraq, destroying a US military radar station.


2. Iran

Persistent armed conflicts with the United States and Israel. Armed confrontations between Iran, the US and Israel continued from 8 to 14 June.
US Central Command stated that an American Apache helicopter was shot down by Iran while patrolling over the Strait of Hormuz on 8 June. In response, US forces launched three rounds of "self-defense strikes" against Iran on the evening of 9 June, targeting Iranian air defense systems, ground control stations and radar facilities near the Strait of Hormuz.
On 8 June, Israel launched a missile attack against the Mahshahr Petrochemical Complex in Iran. On 13 June, the US announced it would continue the maritime blockade against Iran after Iran reclosed the Strait of Hormuz.
On 14 June, the Iranian Banks Coordination Council announced that four major Iranian banks suffered cyberattacks, resulting in partial service disruptions. No unauthorized access to customer information or data breaches were reported.
On 10 June, the Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters of the Iranian Armed Forces issued a statement, accusing the US of launching "aggressive attacks" on multiple locations including Jask, Sirik and Qeshm Island under the pretext of the helicopter crash. In retaliation, the Iranian Army and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched missile and drone strikes against 21 US military targets in Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait and other countries, and shot down a US MQ-9 drone over Jam city, Bushehr Province.
On 11 June, the Aerospace Force and Navy of the IRGC conducted missile attacks on 18 US military sites including Ali Al Salem, Ahmad Al Jaber and Shaikh Isa Air Bases.
Casualties and Property Losses
  • Iran: Two personnel of the Iranian Air Defense Force were killed in the Israeli strike on 8 June. On 10 June, Iran released the latest statistics on maritime losses: 54 seafarers killed, 66 injured, 7 missing and 28 abducted. A total of 360 vessels were damaged, among which 253 sank or were completely destroyed. Four maritime operation buildings, four vessel traffic service control stations and eight communication relay facilities were also damaged. US strikes on southern Iran on 10 June damaged two concrete water tanks, cutting off drinking water supply for approximately 20,000 residents in one city and ten surrounding villages.

  • Israel: The Israeli military reported that the Ramat David Airbase sustained damage from Iranian ballistic missile strikes on 10 June, with no casualties.


3. Palestine and Israel

The Israel-Palestine conflict has left 72,900 people dead in the Gaza Strip. From 8 to 14 June, Israel launched continuous offensives across Gaza, causing heavy casualties.
On 8 June, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out airstrikes on Khan Yunis in southern Gaza and Gaza City in northern Gaza, killing at least 9 people and injuring dozens more. On 9 June, another airstrike on southern Gaza caused multiple deaths and injuries, including a commander of Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ).
Data released by the Gaza Ministry of Health on 12 June showed that since the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire deal took effect in October 2025, Israeli military operations in Gaza have killed 981 Palestinians and wounded 3,111. Since the outbreak of the large-scale Israel-Palestine conflict on 7 October 2023, Israeli attacks on Gaza have resulted in a total of 72,991 deaths and 173,205 injuries.

Israel targeted by Houthi missile attacks. On 8 June, Yemen's Houthi movement announced it had launched missile strikes against military targets in Jaffa, central Israel, claiming the operation achieved its intended objectives.


4. Lebanon

Continuous Israeli strikes cause heavy casualties. Israel launched sustained military attacks on Lebanon from 8 to 14 June.
  • 8 June: Airstrikes on multiple areas of southern Lebanon killed 17 people and injured many, including four Red Cross emergency workers.

  • 9 June: An airstrike on Tyre in southern Lebanon left 8 dead and 32 injured.

  • 10 June: Missile attacks on Tyre and its surrounding areas killed 19 people and wounded 15.

According to the latest figures from the Lebanese Ministry of Health on 13 June, Israeli attacks since 2 March have killed 3,756 people, injured 11,632 and displaced over 1.2 million people across Lebanon.

5. Jordan

Jordan hit by Iranian missile attacks. On 10 June, the Jordanian Armed Forces intercepted and shot down five Iranian missiles targeting the US Air Base at Azraq. On 11 June, Jordan's air defense systems intercepted 20 more Iranian missiles over Azraq in Zarqa Governorate, northeast of Amman. No casualties or property damage were reported.


6. Bahrain

One person injured in Iranian missile attacks. Bahrain came under Iranian missile strikes on 11 June, leaving one person injured, multiple vehicles on fire and several houses damaged. The Bahraini Ministry of Interior stated that debris from intercepted Iranian drones wounded an 11-year-old girl.


7. Yemen

Shooting in Aden Governorate kills four. Late on 11 June, a shooting incident outside the governor's residence in Aden, southern Yemen, left four people dead (including the assailant) and several others injured. An armed man opened fire on security guards at the residence, killing a soldier and a Syrian couple. The authorities have not yet disclosed the motive behind the attack.



Asia-Pacific Region

1. Afghanistan

Pakistani airstrikes kill 26 armed militants. On 10 June, the Pakistani military conducted airstrikes along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, killing 26 armed individuals. Based on intelligence, the military carried out precision strikes on terrorist compounds, destroying four targets including a training center, a hideout, an ammunition depot and a command post.
A spokesperson for the Afghan government said pre-dawn Pakistani airstrikes on Kunar, Khost and Paktika Provinces along the border killed 13 civilians (including women and children) and injured 14 others.

Flash floods leave 301 dead. On 9 June, Afghanistan's National Disaster Management Authority reported that seasonal flash floods and related natural disasters over the past two and a half months have killed at least 301 people and injured 385 nationwide. A total of 18,800 households were affected, nearly 2,000 houses were completely destroyed and over 7,000 partially damaged. Around 580 kilometers of roads were washed away, and more than 12,000 hectares of farmland were submerged.


2. Pakistan

Military operation in Balochistan eliminates 14 militants. On 9 June, Pakistani security forces launched an operation in Khuzdar, southwestern Balochistan, foiling a terrorist plot to attack a local police station and a bank. Fourteen terrorists were killed in the firefight, while one Pakistani soldier lost his life.

Military helicopter crash kills 22. A Pakistani military helicopter crashed in Pakistan-administered Kashmir on 10 June, killing all 22 people on board. The military attributed the crash to technical failure, and the full cause remains under investigation.


3. Japan

Chinese national robbed and injured in Tokyo. On 10 June, a 60-year-old Chinese woman was assaulted and robbed by two men in a commercial district of Tokyo. The suspects stole approximately 8 million Japanese Yen (equivalent to around 340,000 RMB) from her bag and fled. Japanese police are hunting for the two fugitives.


4. Philippines

Earthquake death toll rises to 53. The Philippine Bureau of Fire Protection confirmed on 10 June that the magnitude-7.8 earthquake that struck near Mindanao on 8 June has killed 53 people. The quake had a focal depth of 33 kilometers, and six monitoring stations recorded tsunami waves, with the highest reaching about 1.4 meters.



Africa

1. Nigeria

Multiple attacks kill 30 people and abduct many. According to security reports from Hanwei International’s West Africa team:
  • 8 June: Gunmen attacked a Chinese-funded enterprise in Magbon Village, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, Ogun State, killing one soldier and four civilians. No Chinese personnel were harmed. A roadside bomb struck a passenger vehicle in Anka Local Government Area, Zamfara State, killing 10 people and seriously wounding 7. Armed raiders stormed the headquarters of Yagba West Local Government Area, Kogi State, killing a civil defense officer and abducting his daughter along with multiple residents. A public health official was ambushed and killed in Apa Local Government Area, Benue State. Armed assaults in Kachia and Kajuru Local Government Areas, Kaduna State, left 4 dead and 11 abducted.

  • 10 June: A school in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area, Kogi State, was attacked, killing three people including a vice principal and injuring one. Fulani militias raided Ta-Hoss Community, Riyom Local Government Area, Plateau State, killing two people; mourners were ambushed the next morning, causing one more death and multiple injuries. Further armed attacks in Plateau State killed two law enforcement officers. Bandits raided Awuma Village on the outskirts of Lafia, Nasarawa State, leaving 1 dead, 3 injured and 1 abducted.

Cholera outbreak kills 74. Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) reported on 9 June that a cholera outbreak which began in early May in northeastern Nigeria has infected over 7,000 people and killed at least 74. According to the Borno State Ministry of Health, 7,850 suspected cholera cases have been recorded across 14 local government areas as of 7 June, with infections still on the rise.

Cholera is an acute intestinal infectious disease caused by Vibrio cholerae, mainly transmitted via contaminated water and food. Typical symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration and high fever; severe or delayed treatment can result in death.


2. South Africa

Shooting in Johannesburg leaves 12 dead and 9 injured. Late on 9 June, a mass shooting took place in Cleveland, Johannesburg. More than ten suspects opened fire on residents in an informal settlement and fled by vehicle. At least 12 people were killed and 9 injured. Police have launched an investigation and have not apprehended any suspects so far.


3. Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC)

Ebola outbreak claims 136 lives. The DRC Ministry of Health released an epidemic report on 11 June, stating that the cumulative confirmed Ebola cases reached 676 as of 10 June, including 136 fatalities. The virus continues to spread within local communities. Dr. Jean Kaseya, Director of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, noted that this Ebola outbreak has expanded widely and become one of the largest Ebola epidemics in Africa’s recorded history.


4. Chad

Farmers-herders clash kills 10 in Mayo-Kebbi Est. Media reports on 8 June said a violent conflict between farmers and herders broke out in Mayo-Boné, Mayo-Kebbi Est Region on 7 June. The dispute started when cattle strayed into farmland and escalated into violence, leaving 10 dead and many injured.


5. Sudan

Armed conflict continues. Clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) raged across Sudan from 8 to 14 June. The two sides fought fiercely over military strongholds, transportation routes, logistics hubs and border supply lines in North Kordofan, East Darfur and Blue Nile States, causing heavy civilian casualties.
  • 9 June: Drone strikes on Delein, South Kordofan, left 3 civilians dead and 5 injured. Multiple civilian facilities in El Obeid, North Kordofan, were targeted by drones, killing 5 people and wounding 12; a market, a school, a hospital and other public facilities sustained severe damage.

  • 11 June: Multiple residential areas in El Obeid, capital of North Kordofan, came under drone attacks, killing 23 civilians and injuring 19.



Europe & Americas

1. United States

Shooting in Texas leaves 2 dead and 10 injured. A shooting incident occurred in Midland, Texas on 12 June, killing two people including the gunman and injuring ten others. The incident spanned multiple locations, and the gunman barricaded himself inside a building during a standoff with police. Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the gunman’s death.
According to the latest statistics from the US Gun Violence Archive on 12 June, the US has recorded 182 mass shooting incidents (with four or more casualties) so far this year.

Stabbing attack at New York station injures five. A stabbing rampage erupted at Pennsylvania Station in New York in the evening of 7 June, leaving five people injured, one critically. The suspect has been taken into custody, and the investigation is ongoing.


2. Ukraine

Russia-Ukraine armed conflict persists. Fighting between Russia and Ukraine continued from 8 to 14 June.
The Russian Ministry of Defence stated that Russian forces carried out two large-scale strikes and multiple cluster attacks on Ukraine’s defense industrial enterprises, oil storage facilities and military airfields using missiles and drones over the past week. A total of 2,984 fixed-wing drones were shot down. Russian troops seized two residential areas in Donetsk and Kharkiv Oblasts, and took full control of eastern Kostyantynivka in Donetsk Oblast.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Ukrainian troops struck energy facilities in the Republic of Dagestan and Samara Oblast of Russia, as well as Russian military and logistics installations in Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Luhansk Oblasts using Flamingo cruise missiles. Ukrainian forces shot down 2,142 Russian drones, attacked an oil tanker belonging to Russia’s "Shadow Fleet" in the Black Sea, and launched strikes on Mariupol (a port city under Russian control on the Sea of Azov) carried out by the Azov Battalion, the Security Service of Ukraine and Alpha Special Forces, cutting off power supplies to the port.


3. Mexico

Police ambush in Michoacán kills 5 officers and injures 5. On 10 June, a police patrol car was attacked by unidentified armed men in Navojoa, western Michoacán, leaving five police officers dead and five wounded. Police are searching for the attackers.

Chinese tourist robbed at gunpoint. A Chinese citizen who traveled to Mexico to watch football matches was robbed at gunpoint near Mexico City International Airport on 10 June. The Chinese Embassy and Consulate in Mexico have urged local authorities to solve the case as soon as possible, and reminded Chinese nationals in Mexico to raise security awareness and avoid going out at night.


4. Russia

Ukrainian attacks leave 2 dead and 15 injured in Russia.
  • 10 June: A large-scale missile attack by Ukraine hit Cheboksary, capital of the Chuvash Republic, injuring five people and triggering an explosion at a military electronics plant. A drone strike targeted the Kuibyshev Oil Refinery in Samara Oblast, southwestern Russia, leaving three people injured.

  • 11 June: Drone attacks in Zaporizhzhia Oblast killed two people and injured seven.


5. United Kingdom

Multiple assaults leave three injured.
  • 8 June: A stabbing attack in Belfast, Northern Ireland, left one person in critical condition.

  • 9 June: One person was stabbed at a rugby club in Swindon, Wiltshire; another British man was stabbed by a Sudanese national in Belfast.

  • 10 June: A deliberate arson attack took place in Drumarg Park, County Armagh, Northern Ireland, damaging multiple vehicles.

Mass riots break out in Northern Ireland. Large-scale riots erupted in Northern Ireland on 12 June, triggered after a Sudanese migrant fatally shot a local white resident in public. Protesters blocked roads, set fire to vehicles and public transport, erected barricades and attacked homes and businesses owned by migrants. British police have reinforced local forces and deployed armored vehicles and water cannons to disperse the rioters.

Maritime Security

1. Gulf of Oman

Tanker attacks kill three seafarers.
  • 8 June: US Central Command announced that US forces opened fire on an empty tanker flying the flag of Palau in the Gulf of Oman as the vessel refused to follow orders while heading for an Iranian port. F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jets from the USS Abraham Lincoln fired precision-guided munitions, disabling the ship.

  • 9 June: The Palau-flagged tanker Settebello was hit by US missiles in the Gulf of Oman, killing three Indian crew members.

  • 10 June: US forces attacked and disabled another tanker in the Gulf of Oman.

  • 13 June: The UK Maritime Trade Operations reported that a tanker was struck by an unknown projectile approximately 6 nautical miles (11 kilometers) east of Oman. No casualties or environmental pollution were reported.

2. Yemen

Cargo vessel confronted at sea. On 10 June, the UK Maritime Trade Operations stated that a cargo ship sailing off the southern coast of Yemen was approached by a small boat carrying six armed individuals about 88 nautical miles southwest of Barhaf, Shabwah Governorate. An exchange of gunfire occurred before the boat withdrew. No injuries or vessel damage were reported.
