This issue compiles global regional security intelligence dynamics from July 28 to August 3, 2025. Based on security risk assessment, the security levels of various regions are as shown in the Global Risk Map. Afghanistan, Syria, Myanmar, Pakistan, Nigeria, Sudan, Ukraine, Palestine, and Israel are classified as extremely high-risk areas. During this period, security incidents such as armed conflicts and terrorist attacks occurred frequently in these regions. Chinese-funded enterprises stationed abroad must enhance their own security precautions. (This information is for the internal risk assessment of our company only)

Middle East Region

(I) Syria

  • 2 dead in Damascus shooting incident: On July 29, a shooting incident occurred in the Barzeh Residences community in Damascus, the capital of Syria, resulting in 2 deaths. On the same day, 2 young people from the Druze community were killed by unidentified gunmen in front of a store. It is reported that the attack may have been caused by religious hatred.

  • 1 dead, multiple injured in tribal clashes in Raqqa Governorate: On July 29, members of the Salur tribe and the Buhamad tribe clashed in the village of Samuma in Raqqa Governorate, eastern Syria, leaving 1 person dead and multiple others injured. There are no reports yet on the cause of the conflict and the details of the incident.

  • 1 dead, multiple injured in Suwayda Governorate attack: On August 3, security forces of the Syrian Ministry of the Interior were attacked by local "illegal" armed groups in Suwayda Governorate, southern Syria, resulting in 1 security personnel death and multiple injuries. The security forces stated that the "illegal" armed groups violated the previous ceasefire agreement by attacking security personnel and shelling multiple villages in Suwayda Governorate. The attack has worsened the security situation in Suwayda Governorate and affected the normal work of humanitarian aid convoys.

(II) Iraq

  • Drone loaded with explosives crashes in Kurdistan Autonomous Region: On July 30, the counter-terrorism department of Iraq's Kurdistan Autonomous Region stated that a drone loaded with explosives crashed in a village 60 kilometers southwest of Erbil, the capital of the region, with no reported casualties so far. Currently, no organization has claimed responsibility for the incident.

(III) Palestine and Israel

  • 60,430 Palestinians dead in Israel-Palestine conflicts: From July 28 to August 3, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) continued to launch attacks on multiple locations in the Gaza Strip of Palestine, causing a large number of casualties. Among them, on the 29th, the IDF launched continuous attacks on residential buildings in the western part of Gaza City, the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, and the Mawasi area in Khan Yunis Governorate in the southern Gaza Strip, resulting in at least 113 deaths and 637 injuries. As of August 2, since the outbreak of the new round of Israel-Palestine conflicts, the IDF's military operations in Gaza have killed 60,430 Palestinians and injured 148,722 others.

  • IDF intercepts a Houthi missile: On July 30, the Israeli military issued a statement saying that it had intercepted a missile launched by Yemen's Houthi rebels towards Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv, Israel, with no casualties or property damage reported. Yemen's Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for the attack.

(IV) Lebanon

  • 1 dead, 4 injured in IDF air strike on southern Lebanon: On July 28, the Bint Jbeil district in Nabatieh Governorate, southern Lebanon, was attacked by an IDF drone, resulting in 1 death and 4 injuries. The IDF stated that it launched an air strike in southern Lebanon on the same day, killing a Hezbollah fighter.

(V) Libya

  • 3 terrorist organizations dismantled: On July 30, Libya's intelligence department dismantled 3 terrorist organizations linked to the extremist group "Islamic State" in the southern part of the country and arrested a number of suspects. Investigations showed that these terrorist organizations had recently recruited members, planned to launch attacks on security institutions, and intended to carry out terrorist activities in Somalia and the Sahel region.

Asia-Pacific Region

(I) Afghanistan

  • Chinese Embassy in Afghanistan issues security reminder: Due to multiple security incidents involving Chinese citizens in Takhar Province, Badakhshan Province, and Nangarhar Province of Afghanistan recently, the Chinese Embassy in Afghanistan reminded Chinese-funded enterprises and individuals in Afghanistan on July 28 to closely monitor the security situation, strengthen security precautions, abide by local laws and regulations, and respect local customs and habits. In case of emergency, please call the police in a timely manner and contact the embassy for assistance.

(II) Pakistan

  • 3 terrorists killed in Sindh Province: On July 28, Pakistan's counter-terrorism department launched a counter-terrorism operation against the extremist group "Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan" in the Manghopir area of Karachi, Sindh Province, killing 3 militants and seizing a number of suicide bomb vests and a diary recording potential attack targets in Karachi. Among the 3 killed, one planned the attack on 2 Chinese engineers in the SITE industrial area of Karachi in November 2024.

  • Security early warning: On July 29, the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan issued a security early warning stating that Pakistani terrorists are currently planning attacks on foreign citizens (especially Chinese citizens) in major hotels in Karachi, the capital of Sindh Province. Chinese citizens in Pakistan are specially reminded to avoid going to major hotels in Karachi as much as possible recently; if travel is necessary, they should pay great attention to personal safety.

(III) Thailand

  • 6 dead in Bangkok shooting incident: On July 28, a shooting incident occurred in the Otto Market in the Chatuchak district of Bangkok, Thailand, resulting in the death of 4 security guards and 1 vendor, and the gunman committed suicide at the scene. It is reported that the 61-year-old gunman was from Nakhon Ratchasima Province of Thailand and was once a colleague of the deceased security guards. The police are investigating the motive for the crime.

(IV) India

  • 3 militants killed in Indian-controlled Kashmir: On July 28, Indian police launched a counter-terrorism operation in the Indian-controlled Kashmir region, killing 3 militants. Currently, the counter-terrorism operation is still ongoing.

(V) Japan

  • 2 Chinese citizens injured in attack in Tokyo: On July 31, 2 Chinese citizens were attacked with iron bars by 4 unidentified men on the street of Kanda Sudacho, Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, Japan, resulting in severe head injuries. The attackers fled by car after committing the crime. After the incident, the Chinese Embassy immediately contacted and expressed condolences to the injured compatriots, and went to the police station in the jurisdiction of the incident site to request the Japanese side to take immediate action to arrest the suspects and severely punish the perpetrators. Currently, the police are pursuing the perpetrators.

(VI) Philippines

  • 34 dead due to severe weather: On July 29, the Philippines' National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported that affected by the combined effects of typhoons "Vipa", "Fanshiang", "Zhujiecao" and the southwest monsoon, many parts of the Philippines have been hit by severe weather such as strong winds and heavy rains for consecutive days, triggering disasters such as floods, mudslides and landslides. These disasters have caused 34 deaths, 18 injuries, and 7 missing persons; 48,445 hectares of farmland have been affected; 15,220 houses and 797 infrastructure facilities have been damaged to varying degrees, with losses reaching 9.316 billion pesos (approximately 163 million US dollars). Currently, 193 towns across the country have declared a state of disaster due to the severe disaster situation.

Africa Region

(I) Nigeria

  • 3 dead, 2 abducted in multiple attacks: According to monitoring by Hanwei International's security officers stationed in West Africa: On July 29, suspected Boko Haram terrorists launched an attack on passing vehicles on the Maiduguri-Monguno Highway in Borno State, resulting in 2 deaths and 1 abduction; on the same day, a conflict broke out between the Fulani and Gwari ethnic groups in the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja, causing 1 death and damage to at least 31 houses; on August 1, a lecturer from Taraba State University and a businessman were ambushed in the Wukari Local Government Area; the university lecturer was abducted, while the businessman escaped after the robbers took his mobile phone and cash.

  • 25 dead in floods in northeastern Nigeria: From July 27 to 29, continuous heavy rains triggered floods in the Yola area, the capital of Adamawa State in northeastern Nigeria, resulting in 25 deaths, more than 11 missing persons, and 5,560 displaced people.

(II) Mozambique

  • 5 civilians dead in terrorist attack in Cabo Delgado Province: On July 30, the village of Melija in the Chiure district of Cabo Delgado Province in northern Mozambique was attacked by armed groups, causing 5 civilian deaths.

(III) Angola

  • 22 dead, 197 injured in riots: From July 28 to 30, riots broke out in Luanda, the capital of Angola, and other places, resulting in at least 22 deaths (including 1 police officer), 197 injuries, and 1,214 arrests. The cause was that the National Taxi Association of Angola launched a 3-day strike starting from the 28th to protest against rising fuel prices and fare adjustments. The strike caused traffic paralysis and street blockades in multiple areas of Luanda and Luanda Province; some people attacked passing vehicles and smashed street-side shops. The riots then spread to Huambo Province, Benguela Province, and Huíla Province. Currently, the riots have been brought under control.

(IV) Uganda and South Sudan

  • 4 dead in border clashes: On July 28, an armed conflict broke out between Uganda and South Sudan in the border area, resulting in the death of 1 Ugandan soldier, 3 South Sudanese soldiers, and multiple injuries. Currently, the two countries have launched a series of mitigation measures, including ceasing hostilities and establishing a joint investigation committee.

(V) Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC)

  • Reminder for Chinese citizens not to travel to eastern DRC: On July 30, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese Embassy in the DRC issued a security reminder: Recently, the security situation in the DRC has been complex and severe. The security risks in the four provinces of North Kivu, South Kivu, Ituri, and Haut-Uele in eastern DRC and the surrounding Tanganyika Province are extremely high. Violent conflicts, armed robberies, and abduction incidents targeting Chinese citizens and enterprises occur frequently. In this regard, Chinese citizens in the DRC are reminded not to travel to provinces such as North Kivu, South Kivu, Ituri, and Haut-Uele; Chinese citizens and enterprises still remaining in eastern DRC should evacuate as soon as possible.

(VI) Sudan

  • Armed conflicts continue: From July 28 to August 3, armed conflicts between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces continued in multiple locations in Sudan. The fighting in the Dashu 勒 area of South Kordofan State in the south was particularly fierce. At the same time, clashes between the two sides in the southern and eastern parts of the capital Khartoum resulted in 2 civilian deaths and 13 injuries. Up to now, the armed conflicts in Sudan have caused more than 30,000 deaths and over 12.95 million displaced people, bringing a severe humanitarian disaster to the local area.

(VII) Zimbabwe

  • 1 dead in robbery at Chinese-funded mining enterprise in Midlands Province: On July 29, media reports stated that a Chinese-funded mining enterprise in Midlands Province of Zimbabwe was robbed by unidentified armed men with guns, resulting in the death of 1 Chinese citizen. After the incident, the Chinese Embassy immediately organized the Chinese medical team in Zimbabwe to assist in treatment, and at the same time urged the Zimbabwean police to strengthen the investigation efforts, arrest the criminals as soon as possible, and take effective measures to protect the safety of Chinese enterprises, institutions, and citizens.

Europe and America Region

(I) United States

  • 14 dead, 19 injured in 4 shooting incidents: On July 29, a shooting incident occurred in a high-rise office building in Midtown Manhattan, New York, USA, resulting in 4 deaths (including 1 police officer) and 6 injuries. The gunman was from Las Vegas and committed suicide after the crime; on the same day, a shooting incident occurred at a hotel and casino in Reno, Nevada, USA, causing 3 deaths and 3 injuries. The gunman was shot dead by the police; on the same day, a shooting incident occurred in Atlanta, Georgia, resulting in 1 death and 10 injuries; on August 1, a shooting incident occurred at a commercial establishment in Anaconda in western Montana, USA, causing 4 deaths, and the suspect is still at large. In addition, according to statistics from the US "Gun Violence Archive" website, as of July 28, 8,590 people in the US have died and 15,699 have been injured in various gun violence incidents this year.

(II) Ukraine

  • Russia-Ukraine armed conflicts continue: From July 27 to August 3, Russia's special military operation in Ukraine continued. The Russian Ministry of Defense recently released a battle report stating that over the past week, the Russian military has used air-based high-precision weapons and attack drones to strike Ukrainian military airports, drone production workshops, drone operator training centers, and 142 temporary deployment points of Ukrainian troops and foreign mercenaries. The Russian air defense system shot down 2 US-made HIMARS rockets and thousands of drones, destroyed 11 armored combat vehicles, 5 electronic base stations, and multiple US-made M777 howitzers. It has taken control of Temirovka in Zaporizhzhia, the residential area of Novoukrainka in Donetsk, and the strategic location of Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region; on the Ukrainian side, within this week, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces stated that the Ukrainian Air Force, missile forces, and artillery attacked concentrations of Russian military personnel, weapons, and military equipment, as well as command posts. They destroyed Russian military weapons and equipment such as tanks and drones, and shot down 1 cruise missile and hundreds of drones. In addition, the Ukrainian military attacked multiple energy facilities and communication equipment factories in Russia, and launched attacks on railway facilities and logistics centers in Rostov Oblast and Salsk City of Russia.

(III) United Kingdom

  • 2 dead, 2 injured in London stabbing incident: On July 28, a stabbing incident occurred in a shopping mall in the Southwark area of London, UK, resulting in 2 deaths and 2 injuries. The police stated that the case is initially determined to be unrelated to terrorist attacks and an investigation into the case is underway.

(IV) Ecuador

  • 17 dead, 11 injured in armed attack in Guayas Province: On July 29, a bar in El Empalme City, Guayas Province, Ecuador, was attacked by armed men, resulting in at least 17 deaths and 11 injuries. On the same day, the armed men arrived in two pickup trucks, shouted slogans of drug gangs, and opened fire indiscriminately on people inside and outside the bar, causing a large number of casualties.

(V) Canada

  • 1 dead, 3 injured in 3 attacks: On July 28, a shooting incident occurred in Strathcona County, Canada, resulting in 1 Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer injured, and the gunman was later shot dead by the police; on the same day, a man was attacked by multiple unidentified individuals at King Street East and Stirling Avenue in Kitchener, Ontario, resulting in severe injuries to the man; on the same day, a stabbing incident occurred in downtown Toronto, Ontario, causing 1 injury.

(VI) Russia

  • 1 dead, 2 injured in Ukrainian drone attacks: On July 28 and 29, Bryansk Oblast, Belgorod Oblast, and other places in Russia were attacked by Ukrainian drones, resulting in at least 1 death, 2 injuries, and damage to some vehicles. The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that the Russian air defense system destroyed 74 Ukrainian drones over Bryansk Oblast, Rostov Oblast, and other regions on the 29th.

(VII) Mexico

  • 7 dead in prison riot in Veracruz State: On August 2, a prison riot broke out in a prison in 图斯潘 (Tuxpan) City, Veracruz State, eastern Mexico, resulting in 7 deaths and 11 injuries. Media reports stated that the criminal group "Shadow" (Sombra) has long extorted and attacked inmates in this prison. On the afternoon of the same day, inmates belonging to different gangs clashed. Some inmates set fire and took control of the prison for about 12 hours. On the morning of the 3rd, the state government launched a joint operation to put out the fire and restore order in the prison.

Maritime Security

(I) United States

  • 2 dead, 2 injured in collision of 2 ships in Florida Strait: On July 28, a barge collided with a sailboat carrying 6 people in the waters of Star Island, Biscayne Bay, Miami, Florida Strait, USA, resulting in the death of 2 children and injuries to 2 others on the sailboat. Currently, the cause of the accident is under investigation.

(II) Yemen

   68 Dead in Migrant boat capsizing.On August 2, a boat carrying African migrants capsized in the waters off southern Yemen, leaving 68 people dead and 74 others still unaccounted for. Both the victims and survivors are Ethiopians. Local law enforcement authorities have expanded the search scope and stepped up search and rescue efforts to look for the missing persons.
