Middle East Region

(1) Syria

Military vehicle attack in Suwayda Province kills 1, injures 3.On May 28, a Syrian military vehicle on patrol in the desert area of Suwayda Province in southern Syria was hit by a bomb attack, resulting in the death of one soldier and injuries to three others. The extremist group "Islamic State" claimed responsibility for the attack, marking its first assault against Syria's new regime.

Israeli airstrike in western Syria kills 1 civilian.On May 30, multiple areas in Latakia and Tartus provinces in western Syria were targeted by Israeli airstrikes, killing one civilian.

(2) Iraq

6 "Islamic State" militants killed in Salahuddin Province.On May 30, Iraqi armed forces launched an airstrike against "Islamic State" militants hiding in the Sha'i Valley area of northern Salahuddin Province, killing six militants and destroying their hideout.

(3) Palestine and Israel

Palestinian-Israeli conflict has claimed 54,300 Palestinian lives.From May 26 to June 1, the Israeli military continued its attacks on the southern and central Gaza Strip, resulting in heavy casualties. On May 29, Israeli airstrikes hit multiple areas in central and southern Gaza, killing 67 people and injuring 179. As of May 30, since the outbreak of the latest round of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Israeli military operations in Gaza have killed 54,321 Palestinians and injured 123,770. Additionally, UN Secretary-General's spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric stated on May 30 that Gaza is experiencing the "worst catastrophic situation" since the conflict began, with the region becoming "the hungriest place in the world."

Israel attacked by Houthi forces.On May 26 and 29, Yemen's Houthi forces launched ballistic missile attacks on Ben Gurion Airport and other locations in Israel, causing no casualties.

(4) Lebanon

Israeli militaryattackkilled 1 personOn May 29, an Israeli drone strike targeted the Al-Taher forest area in the Faouka town of southern Lebanon's Nabatieh region, killing one person.

(5) Yemen

Sanaa Airport attacked by Israeli military.On May 28, Sanaa International Airport, controlled by Yemen's Houthi forces, was struck by an Israeli drone, destroying one passenger aircraft belonging to Yemen Airways. This marks the fourth passenger plane destroyed by Israel recently and the airline's only operational aircraft.

Asia-Pacific Region

(1) Afghanistan

357 measles deaths reported this year.On May 26, the World Health Organization reported that Afghanistan had recorded over 55,000 suspected measles cases by that date this year, including 357 deaths, mostly children. The WHO called for urgent action to address the rapid spread of the outbreak.

(2) Pakistan

Two attacks leave 9 dead and 5 injured.On May 26, media reported that a Pakistani military convoy was hit by an improvised explosive device in the Kolwasajidi area of Balochistan on May 25, killing one civilian and injuring five soldiers. On the same day, clashes between Pakistani forces and Taliban militants inKhyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincethe Khoi Bhara area of Dera Ismail Khan resulted in the deaths of three civilians, four soldiers, and one militant.

Six killed in raid in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir.On May 29, Pakistani security forces raided a militant hideout in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir, killing four members of the 'Pakistani Taliban.' The exchange of fire also resulted in the deaths of two police officers.

(3) Thailand and Cambodia

Cross-border clash between Cambodia and Thailand leaves one dead.On May 28, Thailand and Cambodia engaged in an exchange of fire in a disputed border area, resulting in the death of one Cambodian soldier. Cambodia claimed that its soldiers were on a routine patrol when Thai soldiers opened fire first. Thailand, however, stated that Cambodian soldiers had entered the disputed zone, and after failed negotiations, Cambodian soldiers fired first, prompting Thai soldiers to retaliate. On May 29, the two countries reached a ceasefire agreement, pledging restraint to avoid further armed conflicts.

Shooting in Suphan Buri Province, Thailand, leaves 3 dead and 1 injured.On May 30, a shooting incident occurred in Suphan Buri Province, Thailand, killing three people and injuring one. The suspect and the deceased were relatives. Police are currently pursuing the suspect.

(4) Myanmar

Military recaptures lost territory in Nawnghkio, northern Myanmar.On May 26, clashes broke out between Myanmar government forces and the Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) in Nawnghkio Township, northern Shan State. Government forces seized a TNLA stronghold in Yabin Village. By now, the military has reclaimed multiple positions in Nawnghkio, including Dwe Hkawt Village.

(5) Philippines

Shooting in Cavite Province leaves 4 dead and 1 injured.On May 26, a shooting incident in Dasmariñas City, Cavite Province, Philippines, resulted in four deaths, including the gunman, and one serious injury. During a flag-raising ceremony in a local community, an attacker shot three community officials before turning the gun on himself. Police are investigating the motive behind the attack.

Chinese businessman killed in Pangasinan Province.On May 28, the Chinese Consulate in Laoag, Philippines, reported that a Chinese businessman was shot and killed in Pangasinan Province, northern Philippines, on the 25th. Following the incident, the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines and the Chinese Consulate in Laoag immediately contacted local authorities and police to gather information and demand the protection of Chinese citizens' safety and legal rights, urging a swift resolution to the case. The investigation is currently ongoing. In response, the Chinese Consulate in Laoag reminded Chinese citizens in the Philippines to stay vigilant about local security conditions, strengthen safety precautions and emergency preparedness, comply with local laws, and minimize unnecessary travel. In case of emergencies, they should promptly report to the police and contact the embassy or consulate for assistance.

 

Africa Region

(1) Nigeria

Security Alert 1: According to a monitoring report by Hanwei International's security officer in West Africa, on May 26, an attempted suicide attack near the Mogadishu military camp in Abuja, Nigeria's capital, injured one passerby. On the same day, an assailant attempting to breach the camp was killed on the spot by the military. In light of this, Chinese enterprises and individuals in Nigeria are advised to enhance security management, monitor surroundings of camps and residences, avoid high-risk areas such as military camps, government institutions, and religious sites, and refrain from nighttime or solo travel.

Security Alert 2: According to a monitoring report by Hanwei International's security officer in West Africa, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in Enugu State, Nigeria, declared a "sit-at-home" order on May 30, 2025, to commemorate those who died in the Biafra War. Statistics show that over 700 people were killed in attacks during such orders in the past four years, with high risks of armed assaults during travel. Therefore, Chinese entities in Enugu State are advised to avoid unnecessary travel.

(2) South Africa

Bus Plunges Off Bridge in KwaZulu-Natal, Killing 3 and Injuring 12.On May 27, a bus collided with another vehicle and plunged off a bridge near the R102 highway in Tongaat, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, resulting in 3 deaths and 12 injuries. The accident site has been cordoned off.

(3) Mozambique

Military Base in Cabo Delgado Attacked, Leaving 10 Dead and Multiple Injured.On May 29, the Katupa military base in Macomia District, Cabo Delgado Province, northern Mozambique, was attacked by ISIS militants, killing 10 soldiers and injuring several others.

(4) Mali

Two Chinese Citizens Kidnapped in Kayes Region.On May 26, a Chinese enterprise construction camp near the RN1 highway in the Tirena-Marena area of Yélimané County, Kayes Region, Mali, was suspected of being attacked by terrorists, resulting in the kidnapping of two Chinese citizens. This marks the third China-related incident in Mali this month. In response, Chinese mining companies and personnel in Mali are reminded to strengthen precautions against composite threats such as kidnapping, extortion, equipment sabotage, and supply chain disruptions to ensure the safety of personnel and assets.

(5) Zimbabwe

Chinese citizen robbed in Midlands Province.On May 26, a Chinese citizen was robbed near the office building of the power company in the central business district of Gweru, the capital of Midlands Province, Zimbabwe. The victim's passport, laptop, and a large amount of cash were stolen. On the same day, when the victim's car was parked by the roadside, a robber knocked on the window, claiming that the rear tire was leaking. As the driver stepped out to check, the robber quickly snatched the backpack of the Chinese citizen in the back seat and fled in an accomplice's vehicle.(6) Sudan

Armed clashes continue.From May 26 to June 1, the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces engaged in continuous clashes in the capital Khartoum and multiple areas in the north, center, and west. Among these, clashes in the western Kordofan State resulted in 26 civilian deaths and nearly 100 injuries. The over two-year-long armed conflict has not only caused significant casualties but also severely damaged Sudan's healthcare system, leading to large-scale outbreaks of infectious diseases such as cholera and dengue fever. A report released by UNICEF on May 28 stated that the cholera outbreak has spread to 12 of the country's 18 states, with over 65,200 reported cases and more than 1,700 deaths.

 

Europe and America

(1) United States 

Three shootings result in 2 deaths and 27 injuries.On May 26, a mass shooting occurred in a park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, killing 2 people and injuring at least 9; on the same day, a shooting in a coastal town in South Carolina injured at least 11 people; on May 28, a shooting in a park in Washington State injured 7 people, 3 of whom were in serious condition.

(2) Ukraine 

Armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues.From May 26 to June 1, Russia's special military operation in Ukraine continued. The Russian Ministry of Defense recently released a combat report stating that over the past week, the Russian military conducted large-scale precision strikes using high-precision weapons and drones on targets such as Ukraine's defense industry facilities, military airport infrastructure, and weapons and ammunition storage facilities. Air defense forces shot down 1,439 fixed-wing drones of the Ukrainian army. They repelled multiple Ukrainian offensives in the Sumy, Kharkiv, and Donetsk directions and gained control of 13 settlements in the Sumy, Kharkiv, and Donetsk regions. On the Ukrainian side, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that hundreds of battles occurred along the frontlines during the week. Ukrainian forces repelled Russian attacks on multiple fronts and launched several offensives, shooting down dozens of Russia's new jet-powered drones. Ukrainian special operations forces, in collaboration with the Security Service of Ukraine, carried out precision strikes using drones on three key military-industrial facilities inside Russia.

(3) Mexico

Military vehicle attack leaves 8 dead.On May 28, an explosive attack occurred in the border area between Michoacán and Jalisco states in western Mexico, killing eight Mexican soldiers. That evening, an armored vehicle carrying military personnel was attacked by an explosive device while conducting patrol and security operations in the area, resulting in multiple casualties. The attack is reportedly linked to Mexican drug cartels.

(4) Ecuador

Three attacks leave 4 dead and 5 injured.On May 26, an explosive attack near a nightclub in Puerto Bolívar, Machala, El Oro Province, Ecuador, killed one person and injured five. On the same day, an armed robbery on the Los Pozos – Arenillas highway in Arenillas, El Oro Province, left one person dead. On May 27, a shooting in the La Floreana community of Manta, Manabí Province, Ecuador, resulted in the deaths of two women. 

(5) United Kingdom

Car plows into Liverpool fans, injuring 79.On May 26, a man drove a car into a crowd of fans celebrating Liverpool FC's Premier League victory in downtown Liverpool, injuring 79 people, two of whom were in serious condition. Police described the incident as an "isolated event" unrelated to terrorism. The suspect has been arrested, and investigations are ongoing.

(6) Russia

Multiple regions targeted by Ukrainian drone attacks.From May 27 to 28, Moscow Oblast and Bryansk Oblast in Russia were attacked by Ukrainian drones, leading to the suspension of flights at four airports in Moscow Oblast: Domodedovo, Zhukovsky, Vnukovo, and Sheremetyevo. There were no reports of casualties. Additionally, according to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense on the 28th, from the evening of the 27th to the morning of the 28th, Russian air defense forces destroyed and intercepted 296 Ukrainian drones in multiple locations.

Retired Russian commander killed in explosion attack.On May 29, retired Russian commander Shaur Gurtsiyev was killed in an explosion in a residential area of Stavropol City in southern Russia. Since the outbreak of the Ukraine crisis in February 2022, several high-ranking Russian officers have been killed in attacks within Russia.

Bridge explosion in Bryansk Oblast kills 4 and injures 44.On May 31, a bridge in Bryansk Oblast, Russia, was blown up by a bomb, resulting in 4 deaths and at least 44 injuries. It was reported that unidentified individuals placed four explosive devices on the bridge and detonated them as a train passed, causing the locomotive and four carriages to derail and fall.

Maritime Safety

(1) Spain

Migrant boat capsizes near Canary Islands, killing 7.On May 28, a boat carrying migrants capsized near the Canary Islands in Spain, resulting in the deaths of 4 women and 3 girls.

(2) India

Cargo ship sinks off Kerala coast.On May 26, a Liberia-flagged container ship 'MSC ELSA-3' carrying hazardous materials sank off the coast of Kerala, India, with all 24 crew members rescued. The ship was loaded with 640 containers and 370 tons of fuel and had departed from Vizhinjam Port in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala, on the 23rd, heading to Kochi. The ship encountered distress on the 24th and sent a distress signal. The Indian Navy arrived at the scene and rescued the crew.
